Hiding MIDC Funding
Under the pretense of making the MIDC funding more competitive, our elected officials are planning to move it to the Office of Procurement. This is a behind closed doors effort which would allow elected officials to say they have no voice in its funding. CM Jawando seemed to know about this because he referenced it in an article months before. Activists have said that this is not what they have been asking for. They want it ended. And the new arrangement would thwart future advocacy (it would be buried in a bureaucratic entity rather than accountable to elected officials.
